Trauma Informed Awareness for Schools
Trauma Informed Awareness for Schools
Statistics show that anywhere from 25% to upwards of 80% of children in communities in the U.S. have experienced a traumatic event before they reach the age of 18. In several states 1 out of 7 children have experienced three or more traumatic events before turning 18. These children are in our classrooms with a whole range of physical, mental, emotional, and psychological effects that impact them and often play out as challenging behaviors. This course will teach you the basic concepts of the impact of trauma and how to reframe perceptions of students’ behaviors to create classrooms that are stable, consistent, and safe for students to enter and remain in the learning mode.
