Description

This Positive Bus Safety System (PBSS) Trainer course will prepare individuals to help a Transportation Leadership team create a Tier 1 PBIS System for the school bus and then train their bus drivers and monitors. The curriculum includes slides, handouts, and over a dozen artifacts that can be customized by the Trainer for the school district to fit their needs. Once the system is created, bus drivers and monitors can receive annual PBSS training and booster sessions as required. A PBSS Fidelity Checklist is included to help the Transportation Leadership team assess implementation integrity.

 
 

Course Objectives

  1. Teach the Transportation Department Leadership team and bus drivers/monitors Behavior Principles on the school bus

  2. Lead the Transportation Department Leadership team in creating Positive Bus Safety System documents/practices/protocols (Day 1).

  3. Customize slide and document templates per the Leadership team training.

  4. Lead the Transportation Department Leadership team in finalizing Positive Bus Safety System documents/practices/protocols (Day 2).  

  5. Finalize slide and document templates per the Leadership team training.

  6. Train bus drivers and monitors to master the positive bus safety system using practice, role play, and feedback (Day 3) so they can teach students.
