As returning to school requirements, including physical distancing, online education, and hybrid models, are modified - educators will need to know how to make social and emotional adjustments for students and staff experiencing difficulties as they return to their “classrooms”. The Back to School Video Series provides educators with resources and recommendations on making the school year safer, more predictive, and more positive.

In this video, Vice Principal and NAU AZK12 2020 Teacher Leader Honoree, Joseph Fuentes discusses ways to set the foundation for classroom routines, behavior and academic expectations, and culture during the first weeks of school. He explains how and why this will lead to more learning taking place during the school year.


About the Presenter

Joseph Fuentes is a Professional Learning Facilitator who works to help schools develop and implement School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. Joseph believes that PBIS allows predictable and equitable systems to be implemented in order to support students. Joseph has spent the last 7 years teaching in K-8 classrooms, served as a site PBIS Lead and District PBIS Coach. Joseph holds a Masters of Education in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University.
